For our current and potential providers we have outlined GiveMeTap’s FAQ to keep you informed of how everything works.
It sounds like a Win-Win situation?
It is. You get help to your local environment; get free business listings on GiveMeTap's website; joining is FREE, and you gain increased footfall in your business.
What are the set-up costs?
To become a GiveMeTap Provider is FREE. No set-up fee, no installation, no nothing. All these benefits for FREE.
Who provides the bottles?
We provide our customers with our branded bottles (see here) and you provide the water refill. Water Providers don’t need to make any changes to the way they run their business or install any pricey equipment.
Do I have to stop selling bottled water?
The simple answer is No. To become a GiveMeTap Provider you do not need to stop selling bottled water. It's great if you'd like to, but it's not a requirement.
How much commitment is required?
There are no formal contracts tying you to the service. If you have found that the service doesn’t work for you then you are free to leave the GiveMeTapnetwork at any time. Simply sends us an email with your request and we’ll remove you from our online maps.
How many refills does each person get?
GiveMeTap members are expected to be polite and fill just one single-size bottle per person at a time.
Do I have to serve filtered water?
No. Tap water in the United Kingdom is clean and safe, but we accept that some people like filtered water. Most of our members are just fine with unfiltered tap water. When you register you can select whether you provide filtered or unfiltered water (or both).
Can I serve water all day?
Most GiveMeTap providers make water available during their normal business hours. You can, if you prefer, specify that you will provide water only at particular times when you register.
What about my sales from bottled water?
We created GiveMeTap for those who choose not to buy bottled water anymore. Those who buy bottled water, we believe, will continue to do so when you’re our Provider. Together you can make a difference.
Can I use a self-service machine?
Of course. If you already have a water dispenser then giving GiveMeTap members access to your machine's water dispenser is a great and easy way to take part.
Can I charge for the water refills?
Well, by becoming a GiveMeTap Provider we expect water to be given freely to our members. You can promote awareness that water and service cost money by placing a ‘tips for tap water' jar on your counter.
How do I help my community spirit?
Our providers are the heroes who help keep bottles out of landfills, save fellow community people money and provide them with deliciously fresh water. Helping the community all round.
How do my green credentials increase?
GiveMeTap is social and eco-friendly service which by joining our network you can play to your advantage by holding and promoting your ‘green’ side.
How will I get publicised?
Your business name and location will show on GiveMeTap search maps, giving you FREE publicity and an opportunity to showcase any offers you provide at your business.
What do I get out of this?
By becoming a provider you increase the footfall into your business and increase your customer base as our members appreciate the assistance you provide to them. We prefer that you fill bottles without requiring purchases because we believe GiveMeTap members will return the favour.
What if too many people want water?
This sounds like a good problem. More customers mean more potential for them to purchase your goods as they have more money in their pockets having not spent it on bottled water.
Do I have to inform all my staff members?
Yes please. Every member of your staff should know that your organisation belongs to the GiveMeTap network. Staff members should make water available to the public just as they do other products or services that you offer.
